This is the third year in a row that I’ve had the pleasure of taking Kate’s birthday portrait. I always enjoy having the opportunity to photograph the same child in successive years- it’s amazing how much they grow and develop in such a short time.
Happy Birthday Kate! Can’t wait to see you next year.

Christina and Rudy had a wonderful ceremony and reception at RiverPlace Hotel in downtown Portland. Christina got ready in the condos that RiverPlace offers and we headed out into the heat with Rudy for a few portraits by the Willamette. After a round of formal portraits with friends and family in the refreshing air-conditioning Rudy and Christina were married on the rooftop patio overlooking the river.
The rest of the days events were held in the hotel’s ballroom downstairs. The couple treated their guests to a very tasty served dinner and a round of toasts given by their loved ones had everyone laughing and crying at the same time.
Congratulations Christina and Rudy and thank you for letting me be a part of your day.

Every year the Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust presents the Fourth of July at the Historic Reserve- a huge event with food, art vendors, live history demonstrations, airplane rides, great music, and a carnival. What- not enough for you? Alright.. let’s see what else we can throw in here….how about a half a million dollars worth of fireworks? Will that do?
This was the first time I had spent some time at the Historic Reserve/Fort Vancouver. It’s a fun place with a lot of great opportunities for pictures. I think I’ll be bring Owen back here soon. I was hired by the Historic Reserve (via Brian Shumaker) to capture images for their website and other promotional materials. While the shot list was extensive I still found some time during the twelve hours I was there to get some personal shots as well.
There was plenty of great entertainment there- those pictured here are Curtis Salgado (his guitarist, actually) and Satin Love Orchestra (look at that crowd behind them. I’m telling you- this place was packed and these guys got them movin’).

This kid kept me on my toes and boy was it worth it- he had me laughing the whole session. His smile and curiosity were the two things that were most exhibited that morning. If he wasn’t smiling he had both palms face up (like in the last image there but with both hands…) with a what-in-the-world-is-that-I’ve-never-even-heard-of-it-before look on his face. It was fun to see him take in all the bridges, trains, bikers, runners, boats, etc. that are on display every morning on the waterfront.
Great job Cole! I’m looking forward to our next session with your new baby brother!
